Ah! A Sunny Day In Glasgow thinks it's so clever to fool us with its album art and pretty song titles. They feed us with three measly tracks of (verbatim) "dreamy pop shoegaze" (Daytime Rainbows, So Bloody So Tight, Piano Lessons), and tries to compensate that with different re-mix takes on their song, Nitetime Rainbow. Well, hah. Nice try, A Sunny Day In Glasgow. You almost had me there. Because musical taxonomists like me, were bound to catch up you know.
No doubt hearing tunes which start off as innocent gauzy melodies, then in turn ends off with repetitive beats do sound appeasing at times. If familiarity of a some what etchy calming disposition is what your expecting, then it is all present in this EP. However, this is a slight problem as it represents the predictability of the sound.
On a semi-less unrelated note, A Sunny Day In Glasgow's influences that range from sociologist's such as Emile Durkheim and Erving Goffman; to the hedonistic pleasures of peanut butter or riding bikes, do sound quiet fitting on this Ep. |
