So you’re havin’ a bad day, the car next to you doesn’t seem to wanna give way, your boss called for an abrupt meeting and threatens to transfer out the whole office. So whats the next best thing to do? Grab Eminem’s Releapse off the shelf, shove in those audio ear buds and press play. You’ll be amazed just how entertaining his music is. The power of Relapse comes from Em aiming his beat-downs at his truest target, himself. By letting Dr. Dre take over the low-end-funk production, and rhyming about things he actually cares about, he comes up with a more painful, honest and vital record than anyone could have expected at this late date. It’s an updated journal of his twisted thoughts and a whole new list of celebrties for him to name drop and take shots at. Just when you thought that its over and done with, Eminem brews up another diss track, ‘My Mom’, and its about how he’s turning into his own mother.’Beautiful’ sounds like a messed up version of Christina Aguilera’s same titled song, Em’s attempt at inspirational ballad, singing in his gawky voice. But in one of the album’s funniest moments, Em turns himself into Christopher Reeve so the late, great Superman can get the last word in from beyond the grave: “Eminem, I’m coming to kill you/I always hated you and I still do. And there’s more psychoticness piled up in there than ever. By the time you’re done with the album, you’ll feel a lot better knowing that this guy’s got real problems and yours is just the size of a zit.
