THE ULTIMATE BAND SEARCH 2010 (TUBS10)

Le Meridien's Rumba and BandWidth is organising a band competition unlike other. Spanning 3 weeks in July, the competition seeks to support the local music scene here in Kota Kinabalu and its surrounding. A grand prize of RM1,000 plus a recording deal with Purpose Records and gifts from Distro Republic, The Ultimate Band Search 2010 (TUBS10 in short) aims to create a band competition unlike any other in Kota Kinabalu. Heat 1 will consist of 7 selected bands and the same on Heat 2. Heat 1 is scheduled for 8th of July 2010 whereas Heat 2 on the 15th of July 2010 both at Rumba starting 8:00pm.The Grand Finals will be held on the 22nd of July 2010 starting at 8pm at Rumba.

ELIGIBILITY:
• Malaysians between the age of 18 to 35 may participate in the competition.
• Free entry for every band.

REPERTOIRE:
• All bands must be limited to 5 members each.
• Music genre is limited to Rock and any of the sub-genre of Rock except – Metal, Hardcore.
• All bands must bring their own instruments except for a drum set.
• All songs presented must be originals, no covers are allowed.
• Each band is to present 2 x 4 minutes songs at the qualifying rounds.

ENTRY:
Bands must send their entries to kkbandwidth@gmail.com no later than 25th June 2010.
• A complete band profile.
• A band photo (for publicity purposes)
• A demo tape/cd/mp3 of the participant singing with music accompaniment.
• Selected bands will be informed and displayed on this website after the 25th of June 2010.
• Those that did not go through are encouraged to join in next year's TUBS.

PROGRAMME:
If you are chosen for the preliminary rounds, you will be asked to sing a session of approximately 10 minutes duration. If you reach the final you will be asked to sing two songs not including any items you sang at the prelims.

PROCEDURE:
There will be a line up of juries for each series. Participants will be separated into groups to sing at a selected date during the preliminary rounds (i.e Heat 1 or Heat 2). Each series will consist of different juries. There will only be a maximum of 7 bands selected to play on each heat. Top three high marked participants from each series will proceed to the finals.

RETURN OF RECORDINGS AND PHOTOS:
All materials submitted including recordings and photos become the property of BANDWIDTH & LE MERIDIEN; however recordings and photos will normally be returned at the conclusion of the competition if requested by the candidate and if appropriate stamped addressed packaging is provided.

GENERAL: The organisers reserve the right to refuse any entry and return the entry fee without giving reasons. The administrator has the right to include any candidate’s biography (edited as appropriate) in the printed programme. The jury has the right to stop any candidate’s performance at any stage of the competition. Prizes are awarded, and may be withheld, at the jury’s sole discretion. The jury’s decisions are final. The organisers reserve the right to record or broadcast any part of the prelims or final without payment to the participants. Bandwidth & Le Meridien cannot accept liability for any loss or injury arising in connection with any candidate’s participation in the Competition howsoever caused.
