There has been an active investigation on Eva for the past 5 years on the accounts of insurance fraud. The damage amounts to a whooping RM100m. But to date, no insurance investigator has ever found evidence of Eva’s fraudulent claims. Time to call in Nik, one of the top insurance investigators in Europe. Born a Sabahan, Nik has been earning his fortune in Europe in the last five years. He is now called back to investigate Eva’s lastest insurance claim for the total loss of a nightspot in Kota Kinabalu due to fire.
Nik poses as a tourist guide. He befriends Eva and manages to develop a “more than friendly” relationship with her. Eva is oblivious of Nik’s identity and finds solace in the friendship she shares with Nik. Eva even “invites” Nik to join her in her “plans”.
Eva’s said “plans” include conspiracy of burning down an unprofitable nightspot belonging to a drug smuggler named TKO, and subsequently claiming for total loss from the insurance company, ABG. The total damages would amount to RM12m. This was also to be Eva’s last job before she goes into early retirement.
Normally, Eva’s commission would be 20% of the total claims. However this time, she plans to breach both sides of the agreement by running away with the full RM12m, as her final retirement compansation. Eva wants to introduce a new face in this plan and she thinks Nik would be perfect for it. She offers him an attractive cut of the RM12m.
Having recorded their conversation, Nik now has solid evidence of the fraud masterminded by Eva. However, he is in dilemma of whether to turn Eva in or not. Has Nik also fallen for Eva, as she has for him? But then again, could Nik trust the heart of a con-artist? In the end, would Nik follow through with his duty or would he sell his soul for money and … love?
Nik decides that his soul was worth the attractive cut and joins Eva. They plan their next move. Unknowingly, Eva and Nik are being watched closely by TKO’s people. In addition to that, they are also being spied on by a man called Zailan.
On that day, all of Eva’s plans fail her. TKO people intercepted Eva plans and finally both Eva and a wounded Nik ended up in TKO’s hands. In the commotion, the RM12m got lost in transit. This angered TKO. TKO tortures and questions them about the whereabouts of the lost money. But no one knows where the money had gone to …
So … who took the money? And what would be the fates of Eva and Nik?
This would be Jason Chong's first attempt at directing a film and it marks Sabahan beauty Daphne Iking's debut on the silver screen. Let's hope she pulls a great job on film as she does hosting shows on TV. Belukar is set for a 6th May 2010 release in Malaysia.
